The topic of the sixteenth episode of the second season of the „Efekt Sieci” podcast is minimalism and consumer trends that have been verified, other times reinforced, by pandemonium. During the lockdown and social isolation, there was a 22 percent drop in luxury goods purchases. This translates into billions of euros in savings. Does this mark the symbolic end of consumerism? Will cocooning and neonomadism become leading trends in the coming time?
Expert knowledge and conclusions from the survey of minimalist women are shared by Weronika Przecherska, a DELab UW analyst and PhD candidate at the Faculty of Sociology, UW, who answers questions from Dr. Justyna Pokojska about:
- chances that new technologies will become a catalyst for minimalist attitudes,
- translating trade declines into an attitude of consumerism,
- the ways in which minimalist women use the Internet, and whether it might be more honest to abandon online activity, go fully offline,
- cocooning and neonomadism – what’s that and why are they growing in popularity right now?
- the potential of the Internet to change people,
- the most precious values in an age of pandemic in the face of questioning consumerism.
