September 6–7 DELab UW at Bruegel's Annual Meetings

On 6–7 September, the Annual Meetings took place in Brussels – the most important annual event organised by the Bruegel think-tank, an independent organisation that supports the debate on European integration through reliable economic research, analyses and events.
During the meeting, Bruegel members, scientists and stakeholders discuss current topics concerning Europe. This year's edition was held with the participation of dr hab. Katarzyna Śledziewska, Managing Director of DELab UW, dr Renata Włoch, DELab UW Coordinator and Krzysztof Gyódi, DELab UW Analyst. This year, the discussions focused on macroeconomic topics (e.g. the common currency and the global economy), as well as on supporting innovation, also by universities. The audio recording of the event is available here: http://bruegel.org/events/bruegels-annual-meetings-2016/ The visit of DELab UW representatives to Brussels was also aimed at evaluating Bruegel's activities, which – in order to ensure transparency and coherence – is assessed every three years by an independent committee: the Bruegel Review Task Force (RTF). The current RTF is chaired by dr hab. Katarzyna Śledziewska, and the members of the committee are: Frances Cairncross, BBC journalist, economist, educator, Otmar Issing, President of the Center for Financial Studies, former Board Member of the European Central Bank, Enrico Letta: former Prime Minister of Italy, Xavier Ragot: President of OFCE (French Economic Observatory). The work of the committee is supported by Dr. Renata Włoch. As part of the evaluation process, Renata and Katarzyna conducted over 20 interviews with Bruegel stakeholders, including members of the Board: Jean-Claude Trichet (former President of the European Central Bank), Jerzy Hausner (from the University of Economics in Krakow) and Wolfgang Franz (former director of ZEW – a research center in Mannheim).
