On Wednesday, May 20, 2015, Dr Joanna Bilińska gave a lecture: "WHAT IS TEI?" – based on the translation of Lou Burnard's book
The seminar was devoted to digital humanities, and in particular to the TEI (Text Encoding Initiative) text encoding standard. The development of information technologies has caused significant changes in many fields of science, including the humanities. Using the example of text fragments described using TEI, the issue of semantic tagging was discussed, as well as the role of computer techniques and other interdisciplinary skills in contemporary humanities research. Dr Joanna Bilińska is a graduate of Polish studies and Slavic cultural studies (Slovenian studies) at the Faculty of Polish Studies, University of Warsaw; assistant professor at the Department of Formal Linguistics, University of Warsaw. She obtained her doctoral degree at the Faculty of Modern Languages ​​based on her doctoral thesis entitled Analysis and lexicographic description of Linde's dictionary for the needs of digitization.
