Join us for DELab Talks on March 29!

Blockchain is one of the hottest buzzwords in the internet industry these days, thanks in part to a marked renewal of investor interest in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. But blockchain technology promises much more—creating a new kind of internet and transforming many aspects of social, economic, and political life.
The idea of blockchain, based on distributed databases, enables the implementation of revolutionary, decentralized services in finance, management and public administration. The creators of blockchain infrastructure (e.g. the Ethereum project) emphasize that it is still at the experimental stage, but it is this experimental nature that creates the potential for projects that could become the new Google or Facebook in the future. Representatives of two Polish startups that managed to obtain financing to implement their visions will talk about their experiences in creating projects using blockchain: Julian Zawistowski, CEO and co-founder of Golem Factory, and Maciej Ołpiński, CEO and co-founder of Userfeeds.io. Userfeeds.io – a startup that develops technology for creating content discovery algorithms based on cryptographic tokens and blockchain, allowing for the management of complex reputation systems. Golem Factory – a startup creating a new era of the sharing economy, which allows the purchase and sale of free computing power of home computers. The moderator of the meeting will be Łukasz Jonak, Coordinator of the Data Science DELab UW program. We invite you on March 29 to the University Library in Warsaw, room 256, XNUMXnd floor.
