On Wednesday, March 18 at 16:00 p.m. Łukasz Jonak gave a lecture: THE SMARTNESS OF THE MACHINE, HUMAN, ENVIRONMENT How to explain the operation of the Internet?
Are there any boundaries between the social world and the world of technology? In considerations of the role of technology in the lives of people and communities, they are increasingly becoming blurred. Social sciences study “hybrids” composed of people and non-human objects. In turn, the concept of a “social machine” developed by Internet researchers assumes the existence of a system composed of technical and social elements. Understanding the specifics of the operation of such systems requires the creation of a set of concepts common to both components: human and technical, and therefore proposing a common denominator that will allow us to look at them as a homogeneous structure. The subject of the presentation was the analysis of selected paradigms of cognitive sciences as a potential point of reference for descriptions integrating technological and human components and a proposal for the analysis of the social reality of the Internet and ICT as a socio-technical cognitive system. Łukasz Jonak – Sociologist dealing with the impact of technological development (especially ICT) on the shape of theories and explanations in social sciences, as well as the study of the processes of creating and diffusion of innovations in complex social systems.
