On Wednesday, March 25 at 16:00 p.m. Marcin Rychter gave a lecture: BETWEEN TECHNOLOGY AND IMAGINATION - HOW DID COMPUTERS CHANGE MUSIC?
The subject of the lecture was the changes in contemporary artistic music that occurred as a result of the emergence of electronic devices for the analysis, generation, processing and recording of sound. How do computers differ from traditional instruments? Why did they lead to the disintegration of the canon of European music? What has changed in our perception of sound? How has the meaning of "work", "author", "score" changed? What competences should a composer have today? How do composers use the possibilities of computers? What systems supporting compositional work are the most promising and liked by artists? Can anyone become a composer today? Has the very essence of music changed? Does technology lead to ontological innovations? Will there still be a place for instrumentalist virtuosos in the future? Place: BUW, ul. Dobra 56/66 Warsaw, room 315, 25.03.2015rd floor (elevator at the main entrance to the library, then to the end of the corridor and to the right) Time: Wednesday, 16, 00:XNUMX.
