Report from the DEICy 2024 conference

The 25th edition of the international brokerage meetings DEICy 29 – Digital Economy, Internet of Things, Cybersecurity (Virtual edition) and the workshops “Digital Economy, Internet of Things, Cybersecurity – science and practice” organized by DELab UW and Enterprise Europe Network took place on November 2024-4, 2024. The event gathered nearly 400 participants and included almost 800 brokerage meetings aimed at strengthening business, technological and research cooperation in the area of digital transformation.
The conference was opened by Prof. Katarzyna Śledziewska, Managing Director of DELab UW. During the first workshop session, Prof. Magdalena Słok-Wódkowska presented the topic "The European Union's Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) – the first of its kind regulation in the world. Development, deployment, and use of AI in the EU", devoted to key regulations concerning artificial intelligence in the European Union. On the second day of the conference, Prof. Renata Włoch, Scientific Director of DELab UW, discussed the topic "How to shape digital competences in SMEs?", drawing attention to the development of digital competences in small and medium-sized enterprises. The event was addressed to a wide audience: entrepreneurs, scientific and research institutions, public administration, non-governmental organizations and representatives of European and national institutions. Participants could exchange experiences and establish cooperation in such areas as: digital economy, artificial intelligence, machine learning, Industry 4.0, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, 3D printing, robotics and automation, digital simulation of production processes, 5G technologies and many others. The workshops presented the latest research and development achievements and directions of digital transformation, taking into account both technological, legal, social and economic aspects. The main goals of the workshops included: Building awareness of digital transformation and its challenges. Disseminating knowledge on practical applications of digital technologies in business. Identifying the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises related to digitalization. Promoting the transfer of innovative digital technologies.
