#10 Emotions in a time of pandemic

The tenth episode of „Efekt Sieci” podcast explores the topic of emotions online, particularly in the context of an unprecedented challenge facing almost all modern societies – lockdownand social isolation.

Dr. Maja Sawicka is the expert in the interview with Dr. Justyna Pokojska. The conversation covered issues such as:
– changes in network user behaviour in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and their nature,
– the impact of increasing access to new technologies on the experience of the current situation,
– ways of exploring emotions, especially online,
– changes in the social behaviour of network users and in the „real world”.

„Sam fakt, że ludzie tak intensywnie komunikują się w sieci daje nam okazję, żebyśmy śledzili procesy emocjonalne w momencie ich stawania się. Nie musimy polegać na ludzkiej refleksyjności i pytać ich post factum jak się czuli, gdy siedzieli w domu podczas kwarantanny narodowej. Polegamy wówczas na dwóch rzeczach – pamięci emocjonalnej i refleksyjności, prosimy żeby nazywali emocje, których doświadczyli. W drugim podejściu na bieżąco pobieramy dane np. z mediów społecznościowych, gdzie toczą się dyskusje na dany temat”.
