Anna Nicinska

Economist, assistant professor at the Faculty of Science, scholarship holder of the National Agency for Academic Exchange, laureate of the Ministry of Science Award for Young Outstanding Scientists. Conducts research on health and well-being in later life depending on events from individual life histories and formal and informal institutions. Author of several dozen scientific articles, popularizer of science, enthusiast of citizen science and intersectoral cooperation.
She is an economist, a Bekker Programme (NAWA) fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), a principal investigator in research projects (NCN Opus and Sonata, NCBR IdeaLab). Her main research interests include the formation of preferences related to health, active mobility and private transfers. Her most important publications concern the long-term consequences of communist institutions for well-being and preferences related to intergenerational transfers. She publishes in international scientific journals (e.g. European Economic Review, Economica, Journal of Transport Geography, Journal of Family Studies, Ageing and Society). She regularly presents the results of her research at important conferences and workshops in Europe (e.g. ESPE, Applied Economics Conference) and worldwide (NBER Summer Institute). She is a laureate of the Minister of Science scholarship for young outstanding people and a member of the Ageing and Health Incentives Lab (AHIL) and the steering committee of the European Health Policy Group at LSE. He enjoys being involved in activities that communicate research results to various target groups, especially decision-makers and students. He spends his free time swimming in the lake.
