Scholar of the National Agency for Academic Exchange and the Glasgow-Warsaw Dekaban Liddle Foundation. His research interests include urban issues related to digitalization, the impact of short-term rentals on city development, platform economics, and the use of data-science methods.
Assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Warsaw, head of the Digital Cities Transformation Workshop, visiting researcher at Boston University and the University of Glasgow. Scholarship holder of NAWA and Glasgow-Warsaw Dekaban Liddle Foundation. His research interests include urban issues related to digitalization, the impact of short-term rentals on city development, platform economics and the use of data-science methods. Kristóf is the first author of publications in leading scientific journals, including Current Issues in Tourism, Journal of Cleaner Production, Tourism Management and Quality & Quantity. As a PhD student, he led a project on short-term rentals as part of the NCN Preludium grant. He defended his doctoral thesis entitled “The Characteristics and Economic Impact of Novel Business Models: The Case of Airbnb in European Cities” in February 2022 at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Warsaw. In 2022-2023, he led a project under the IDUB New Ideas program on the effectiveness of short-term rental regulations. At the Urban Big Data Centre at the University of Glasgow, he conducted research on Airbnb in the context of urban and regional development in Scotland. From October 2024, he is on a one-year research fellowship at Boston University, where he conducts research on the short-term rental market and other services provided via platforms. He has extensive experience in cooperation with various partners, implementing projects for the European Commission, Eurostat and the capital city of Warsaw. He is the main author of two reports on short-term rentals in Warsaw.
