Assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Warsaw, head of the Digitalization Research Workshop in the Cultural and Creative Sectors (SKK) at DELab UW, co-founder of the Association for Cultural Economics Poland (ACEP) and member of the European Expert Network on Culture (EENC). As part of the 4-year NCN OPUS project on attention economics in creative sectors and digital entertainment, he examines how available time and attention resources affect consumer and producer decisions and competition between sectors. As part of the DG EAC grant, together with an international consortium, he examines the discoverability and representation of European musical and book works in the digital environment. Wojciech Hardy began his research activity as part of the NCN OPUS project led by dr hab. Michał Krawczyk, on the subject of online piracy - its effects and related ethical challenges. Shortly afterwards, he started his own NCN Preludium project, continuing the thread of internet piracy in the context of switching costs between authorized and unauthorized content sources. In 2019, Wojciech Hardy defended his doctoral dissertation on the effects of digital disruption in creative sectors, with particular emphasis on the American comic book sector. In 2015-2018, he worked at the Institute for Structural Research - IBS on topics related to the labor market, with particular emphasis on the impact of technological changes on the division of tasks in labor markets. Since 2021, he has also been part of the LabFam team at the Faculty of Economics, University of Warsaw, with which he studies the impact of technological changes on the market and labor situation of women and men and on fertility. His main research interests concern the creative and cultural sectors, the trends related to digitalization and technological changes. He also conducts bachelor's and master's seminars on these issues, as well as courses at the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations, among others. In his research he uses econometric methods and often constructs new data sets based on information collected in an automated manner from Internet sources. Other issues he dealt with include the development of the short-term rental market in Warsaw (reports for the capital city of Warsaw under the management of Kristóf Gyódi). Privately, a happy dad, enthusiast of fairy tales, folklore, legends and myths from around the world, as well as pop culture.
