Data collection

The uw.edu.pl service stores http requests directed to our server. Resources are identified by URL addresses. The following information is stored in the www server log files:

  • the public IP address of the computer from which the query came,
  • number of bytes sent by the server,
  • information about the user's browser,
  • information about the time at which the data was sent from the server.

This information does not contain data relating to the identity of users, but when combined with other information may constitute personal data and therefore the controller provides it with full protection under the provisions governing the protection of personal data.

Data usage

The collected logs are stored for an indefinite period of time as auxiliary material used to administer the service. The information contained in them is not disclosed to anyone except those authorized to administer the service. Based on the log files, statistics can be generated that are helpful in administration.

Purposes and basis of processing

We will process your personal data for the purpose of:

  • communicating with you by e-mail or telephone, if you initiate such communication – art. 6 sec. 1 let. c GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC – General Data Protection Regulation, OJ EU L 119 of 04.05.2016 May 1, p. 20, as amended). Processing is necessary to fulfil the legal obligation incumbent on the controller (the legal obligation results in particular from: the Act of 2018 July 16 – The Law on Higher Education and Science; the Act of 2016 July 17 – The Telecommunications Law, the Act of 2005 February XNUMX on the computerisation of the activities of entities performing public tasks;
  • improving the quality of services, the administrator processes statistical information regarding the use of the website – Article 6 paragraph 1 letter f of the GDPR (legitimate interest of the administrator in facilitating the use of the website, improving the quality and functionality of the services provided);
  • sending the newsletter – Article 6, paragraph 1, letter a of the GDPR (based on the consent of the data subject);
  • joining the media mailing list – Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR (based on the consent of the data subject);

We would also like to remind you that the withdrawal of your consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of your consent before its withdrawal.

We may also process your personal data in order to perform a task in the public interest (Article 6 (1) (e) of the GDPR), and in justified cases we will process your personal data for purposes arising from the legitimate interests pursued by the controller (Article 6 (1) (f) of the GDPR).

Recipients of personal data

Access to your personal data will be granted to authorized employees and collaborators of the University of Warsaw who must process your data in connection with the task being performed.

The recipients of the data may also be entities to which the administrator commissions the performance of specific activities, which involve the need to process personal data. In order to ensure proper protection of personal data, a personal data processing entrustment agreement has been signed with these recipients.

Period of personal data storage

We will process your personal data until the purpose for which the data was collected is achieved, and then in cases that require it, for the period specified in the Act of 14 July 1983 on the national archival resources and archives (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 217, as amended) and the provisions of the Telecommunications Law. 

Rights related to data processing

We guarantee you the implementation of all your rights under the terms set out in the GDPR, i.e. the right to:

  • access to data and receiving a copy thereof;
  • rectify (correct) your personal data;
  • restrictions on the processing of personal data;
  • deletion of personal data (subject to Article 17(3) of the GDPR);
  • lodge a complaint with the President of the Office for Personal Data Protection if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the provisions of the law on personal data protection.

Obligation to provide data and consequences of failure to provide data

Providing data that is processed in connection with the implementation of a legal obligation is mandatory, in the case of data processing based on consent to the processing of personal data, providing data is voluntary. Failure to provide data may make it difficult or impossible to achieve the purposes indicated above.

The privacy policy may be supplemented or updated in accordance with the current needs of the administrator in order to provide current and reliable information to users regarding their personal data and information about them. Any changes to the privacy policy are introduced on this page.
