Industry 4.0 is a complex process of technological and organizational transformation of enterprises, related to the change of the company's business model and the integration of the value chain in the entire product life cycle. The condition for this transformation is the advanced use of digital technologies and data resources in order to achieve business success and competitive advantage on the market. The use of digital technologies and a change in the company's strategy assume the possibility of profitable personalized production in response to individualized customer needs. The proposal of the tool for assessing digital maturity focuses on defining the basic symptoms of digital maturity in the context of the idea of Industry 4.0. Read the study prepared by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology together with DELab UW and use the prototype of the tool for assessing the digital maturity of manufacturing enterprises.
The coronavirus has changed our way of life, bringing many difficulties. Using data from open repositories, the DELab UW team working within the NGI Forward project has created an interactive report that sheds some light on the issues that policymakers need to focus on the most. The pandemic will trigger an economic crisis, the scale and effects of which we are unable to assess. One thing is certain, however: this crisis will deepen the current changes in the labor market caused by digitalization processes: automation and platformization. These changes will hit especially hard those employees who perform routine and repetitive tasks. In the report, we seek answers to questions about the direction of changes in the labor market, threats to professionally active women, and actions that should be taken as soon as possible not only to mitigate the negative effects of the crisis, but also to use this moment to equalize women's opportunities on the labor market in the digital economy of the future. The publication was created as part of the Woman Update campaign.
The aim of the report is to characterize new challenges and opportunities created by digital transformation in the field of higher education, the functioning of universities as research and teaching centers and organizations, as well as science and cooperation between science and business. We begin by outlining the broader context of the relationship between digital transformation and science and higher education, showing changes taking place on the labor market and concerning the growing role of digital, cognitive and social competences. We characterize the ecosystem of digital science, describe how digital transformation changes the process of studying and changes the university as an institution - both in internal and inter-university relations and with external actors from the private and public sectors. The publication ends with a list of recommendations relating to individual areas of the digital transformation of science and higher education.

New technologies are changing the functioning of the financial system, undermining the role of the bank that has been established over the past centuries. The expectations and needs of individual customers have changed, as they move freely on the web, are accustomed to a wide range of choices and demand careful treatment. The needs of digital companies have also changed, increasingly selling their – often digital – products via e-commerce on international markets and need innovative payment solutions. In order to maintain and expand their presence on the market, banks must undergo a thorough digital transformation, which requires internal restructuring and a change in thinking about the nature of a banker's work.
Today, there is no need to convince anyone that digital transformation is inevitable and necessary. The pandemic crisis is changing the way companies operate, creating new work models, but also affecting our personal relationships. In this report, we present how technological progress affects our family life and why the competences of the future will be so important in the context of the safety and quality of life of ourselves and our loved ones. The report "Family of the Future" is based on the results of two representative surveys conducted by Smartscope on behalf of Nationale-Nederlanden and developed by DELab UW.

The digital revolution is taking over more and more sectors of the economy and changing the working conditions of individual professional groups. Its impact is clearly visible in the taxi market and platforms that connect taxi drivers and passengers directly. The world's first taxi ordering app, mytaxi, is part of this revolution. In this report, we take a closer look at taxi drivers who use it in their work.
In order to be able to talk about ideas for regulating the short-term rental sector, it is worth seeking answers to questions about the scale of short-term rentals in Warsaw, how many apartments are made available through the Airbnb platform, where these apartments are located, and whether it is possible to observe Airbnb's impact on the hotel sector and the apartment rental market. For this purpose, we were the first to undertake an in-depth study of this market in Warsaw. The study was conducted between March and June 2019 on behalf of the Economic Development Office of the Capital City of Warsaw. Its results allow for a precise definition of the challenges facing the city, as well as for indicating potential solutions to meet them.
The main objective of the report is to present an online tool that facilitates the study of key technological challenges and related policy issues. Using text-mining methodology, the authors investigated and identified topics covered in articles shared on social networks – Twitter, Reddit and Hacker News. The authors focused on six thematic areas: Environment and Sustainability; Decentralization and Alternative Models of Regulation of Digital Markets; Digital Transformation of Public Space; Privacy, Identity and Data Governance; Trustworthy Information Flow, Cybersecurity and Democracy; Access to Inclusive and Ethical Digital Technologies. Interactive maps present related groups of articles for each thematic area, allowing the discovery of key technological and policy challenges, opinions and recommendations for solutions. Through expert analysis, the authors labeled and named clusters on the map, supporting further analysis by users. To present the potential of this tool, the authors prepared an in-depth analysis for the thematic area: “Access to Inclusive and Ethical Digital Technologies”. The report provides insights into challenges and solutions related to: Open Internet (access to the Internet, control over infrastructure, censorship and content moderation) Inclusive technologies (gender and race equality, inclusive education, technologies used in the justice system) Ethical technologies (bias in algorithms, military and surveillance applications of AI, gig economy).
