A research project analyzing changes in the digital entertainment market in the context of growing competition for users' attention. In an era of numerous streaming platforms, such as Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video, and blurring the boundaries between digital entertainment sectors, the problem of attention deficit is becoming increasingly urgent. The project examines whether we have reached the limits of available consumer attention and how strong is the inter-sectoral competition for this resource. It also analyzes the strategies of companies aimed at acquiring and monetizing user attention and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on these processes. The research uses modern econometric methods, internet data, experiments and surveys. The project aims to deepen knowledge about the attention economy and its consequences for the market and society, and its results will be presented at international conferences and published in prestigious scientific journals.

Research project on the impact of exposure to automation technologies on investments in human capital in European Union countries. The development of technologies, including artificial intelligence, is redefining labor markets, forcing employees, companies and institutions to adapt. The project analyzes how exposure to automation - both in the case of routine tasks and highly advanced professions - affects decisions regarding education and development of competences. The research focuses on identifying motivations and barriers behind investing in human capital in the context of implementing new technologies. The project takes into account differences between employees and sectors, providing knowledge useful for designing trainings that minimize the negative effects of automation. The results can support decision-makers and organizations in creating strategies that increase the competitiveness and resilience of the labor market to the challenges of digital transformation.

The research project focuses on the analysis of the application of law regulating digital technologies in the European Union, including competition law, personal data protection and the new framework for data management. In the era of adopting acts such as the Digital Services Act or the Artificial Intelligence Act, the project examines the relations between new regulations and existing legal solutions. The key objective is to identify and compare different models of law application, taking into account both the provisions and the practice of their implementation. The analysis will also cover the impact of law application mechanisms on the implementation of regulatory objectives and the role of expert knowledge in decision-making processes. The project results are to provide conclusions that will improve the regulation of digital technologies, taking into account the cooperation of institutions at the EU and national level.

At DELab UW, we deal with digital transformation on a daily basis. One of its latest manifestations is generative artificial intelligence (generative AI, genAI) - a technology that we look at from different perspectives. We have the first reports on generative AI and education behind us, as well as an in-depth analysis of the competencies needed in the era of AI in small and medium-sized enterprises. We are examining how employees perceive technological changes and looking for creative applications of generative AI in processes. We have also conducted courses in generative AI for scientists and administration of the University of Warsaw. At DELab seminars, we are happy to share ideas for new applications of AI models in our work.

In our study, we looked for answers to the question of the reasons for this reluctance to undertake training using data on employees in six European Union countries. The key finding from our analysis is that training is more likely to be undertaken by people who have undertaken training in the recent past. In other words, training is undertaken by people with a learning mindset, while inactive people remain inactive. To increase participation in training, organizations should create a work environment that supports upskilling while eliminating individual and structural barriers.

The Digital Economy Lab team and I believe that if the University of Warsaw is to maintain its position, these technologies cannot be ignored or passed over in silence. On the contrary, their dynamic development means that we need to talk about them now and adapt our teaching to new realities. The technology is cheap and intuitive enough for young people to master it faster and much better than current staff – just as it follows new applications and trends in social media faster. Indeed, people studying at the university are already using these tools, and not even a semester has passed since they began to spread. Although the technology is new, we can already say something about it. We know what it can already do and what are the current trends in its development. Teaching specialists have started to implement them in their programs and share their observations about its impact on teaching. The first applications in research are also appearing. Whichever way you look at it, curricula, methods of testing knowledge and learning outcomes must be * A useful collection of the most important information was prepared by, among others, ETH Zürich. For example, the journal Nature has included clauses in its guidelines for submitting articles on how to document the use of updated or quickly cease to keep up with the needs of the market and students. This will require work, often also on courses that have been held for years according to a fixed and refined formula.

The pandemic has made the difficulties experienced by women in the labor market extremely clear. The strength needed to cope with professional duties in a situation of a huge burden of parenting and household responsibilities is behind the choice of the term "work titans" as the title of this report. Our analysis shows that a titanic effort was necessary to cope with the challenges created by the pandemic. The report focuses on an attempt to diagnose the situation of women in the face of the digital transformation of the labor market. Automation creates threats to many professions and is indicated as a cause of polarization of the labor market: while people with digital competences will find their place in the labor market of the future, those without them may fall into the trap of precarious work or have trouble finding employment. The questions we ask in the report concern the extent to which Polish women are aware of the changes taking place? To what extent are they ready to acquire new, digital competences? Has the pandemic and the related intensification of the development of the digital industry affected women's attitudes towards acquiring competences of the future?

Report based on the publication by DELab UW entitled "Innovativeness of Polish enterprises. Research and development activities and cooperation between science and business". Polish universities are often accused of not using their intellectual potential to support Polish innovation. It is commonly believed that scientists focus on basic research and do not commercialize the results of R&D research. However, what happens when scientists get involved in business? Does a scientist on the board or management of a company make it more innovative? Does the specialist knowledge of a scientist serve the development of products or services offered by companies? We will try to answer this question by referring to research on the entrepreneurship of Polish scientists. It covered all scientists listed in the POL-on database and 30 thousand companies, from which those on whose board or management a scientist sits were distinguished.
