Dr. Anna Nicińska

She is a researcher at the Digital Economy Lab at the University of Warsaw, fellow of Bekker scholarship (NAWA) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), principal investigator in two projects (NCN Opus, NCBR IdeaLab) and a promoter of diploma theses at the Faculty of Economic Sciences. Her main research interests are the formation of preferences related to health, sustainable mobility and private transfers.

Her most important publications concern intergenerational transfers and have appeared in international scientific journals (eg. Economica, Journal of Family Studies, Aging and Society). She regularly presents the results of his research at major conferences and workshops in Europe (eg ESPE, Applied Economics Conference) and around the world (NBER Summer Institute). Currently, she is focused on the conducting the research in the international project "Co-designing inclusive mobility", in which, together with her team, they study transport behaviors and their impact on air quality, and also leads the project "The role of institutions for health, attitudes and behaviours in later life" analyzsing the impact of communism on later life health. She had participated in 3 projects as a principal investigator and in other 6 as a researcher. She is a fellow of the Ministry of Science scholarship for outstanding young scientists as well as a member of the Aging and Health Incentives Lab (AHIL)and the steering committee of the European Health Policy Group at LSE.

She has extensive experience in and high qualifications confirmed by certificates. In addition to promoting diploma theses, her teaching is focused on the data analysis and visualization, demographic processes as well as smart city solutions in the context of aging and the methodology of the research process. She prefers interactive (conversation classes) and unconventional (webinars, city challenge) didactic forms. She is the originator and co-author of the series of classes carried out under the 4EU + university alliance "Smart cities for aging societies".

She continues to publish in Polish aiming to reach the influential readers of national magazines with a significant impact on social policy (eg. Ekonomista, Polityka Społeczna). She enjoys engaging in the activities communicating research results to various audiences, especially policy-makers and primary school pupils.

She loves to swim in a lake and read academic investigations of pop culture.

Career

From 2021 - Member of the Steering Committee of the European Health Policy Group at the London School of Economics and External Associate at the Ageing and Health Incentives Lab (AHIL) and Principal Investigator of the CoMobility project.

Since 2020 - member of the editorial team of Politikon

Since 2011 - Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economic Sciences of UW, didactics of the courses: Demography, Statistics and Statistical Analysis using STATA. Tutor of foreign students in a research seminar at the UW Department of Economics. Supervisor of 6 master's theses and 19 bachelor's theses.

2006-2011 - Country Operator, Survey on Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe in Polish team.
