In Poland, 30 000 pages of legal acts are created annually. That’s a pretty sizable repository, which leads us to ask how to optimize their number and content. In her NCN project, Magdalena Słok-Wódkowska, Ph.D., together with Łukasz Nawaro, examines the issues related to trade agreements and whether regional trade agreements (RTAs) respond to the challenges of the digital economy and create a new paradigm in international economic relations in the era of the data driven economy. The study’s conclusions? Listen to the latest podcast!
DELab UW legal analyst Dr hab. Magdalena Słok-Wódkowska (Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw) and DELab UW analyst Łukasz Nawaro (Faculty of Economics of the University of Warsaw) talk about how legal acts in international trade regulating the flow of electronic goods and services are created, answering Dr. Justyna Pokojska’s questions about:
- interesting elements of trade agreements and why it is important to study them,
- a methodology for analyzing trade agreements,
- the reasons why states „borrow” legal solutions from each other and the question of the legality of such practices,
- legal trendsetters, rule makers, propagators and those who mainly borrow solutions,
- the ability of ordinary web users to learn about the repository of commercial contracts, and the problems facing analysts,
- patterns and regularities that the study was able to capture, such as in the case of Brexit,
- next research steps.
